Always delicious and above-average nice staff!
Very tasty food and attentive service
delicious
Delicious food, friendly service.
Also possible indoors in winter in Corona times. German house is misleading, Greek restaurant with a classic menu. Service friendly, in the bar Budweiser on tap.
By far the best restaurant in Idstein and the surrounding area. No tzatziki on earth tastes as good as this. Definitely worth a visit.
Great food friendly price / line ok
The places in the fresh air are great and the service is also very nice. However, the cuisine is more reminiscent of the 80s ... Each dish has only French fries as a side dish. The portions are similar to children's portions, but the prices are average and therefore relatively high. Overall, it has little to do with Greece.
Very tasty. Friendly and comfortable. Were there many times. Will always be happy to go there
Nice atmosphere outside. Nice and funny service. The food and drink was served quickly (it was only fully occupied outside, nothing going on inside as the weather was nice). Price-performance ratio good. Very tasty German and Greek food. Would highly recommend.
We only ended up here because all the other (better) restaurants were booked out and it was raining and we were hungry. The first image we got when walking in, was one of the waiters (and/or the chef?) smoked a cigarette inside standing at an open window, as if the smoke would not end up being in the entire restaurant. The gentleman ended up smoking there multiple times during our one hour stay. The service was ok, drinks came fast , beer was fresh and good. I love Greece, Greek people and Greek food, so I‘m not sure why a mostly-greek menu would be offered in a Restaurant called „German house“. If you want to cook Greek food, might as well have a Greek-inspired name for your Restaurant? Other than the smoking and the fact that the restaurant obviously does not employ an actual professional from the restaurant business, the main issue is the food. We had our minds set on a final, typical German meal as this was our last night in Germany, hence we ordered Schnitzel with Mushroom Cream Souce, fries and side salad. Side salad was fresh and delicious. The Schnitzel was an insult and nobody should be allowed to serve this to their guests. Obviously not freshly cooked, this was a frozen pre-breaded , extremely cheap product which had been heated up in the microwave, then they dumped a package-sauce with canned mushrooms on top and added mostly unsalted fries and called it a day. For the same price, they could have made it fresh, if they knew how to do it, which I really doubt. I watched the other tables and most people took a bite or two from their food (mostly from the Greek part of the menu) and then set it aside. This is a sit-down restaurant with sit-down prices. They obviously don’t have a trained chef in the kitchen, the meat was of very poor quality and overall not prepared with care or knowledge. The location of the restaurant is perfect, this is a home-run Location and restaurant set-up for anyone who knows what they are doing. Very sad that it’s run so unprofessionally, could also be a great Greek Restaurant, if done right. In retrospect, it became clear to us why we had no issues finding a seat here. I recommend reserving a table somewhere else and spend your money on people who run their restaurant with care and deserve it. By the way, my clothes still stinking smoke.
Very tasty Greek dishes. No gourmet cuisine, but honest, down-to-earth dishes with a good price-performance ratio.
Today we were 6 people and we were visiting the German House in Idstein for the first time. The service was super friendly, the food and portions were sufficient and tasted delicious. We'd all like to come back.
You feel right at home.
Extensive menu, very good wines, cozy dining room, very friendly service. The dishes were very well prepared, the recommended wines were very harmonious.
I was now eating twice at a relatively large distance in the German House. Unfortunately, it wasn't very good either time. You can sit outside very nicely, the service is brisk, neither friendly nor unfriendly. For a Greek one waits for the dishes for a relatively long time in order to then get quite lovelessly arranged food. The taste is ok, unfortunately there is no side salad. For the price of around € 35 for 2 main courses and 2 drinks, there are better alternatives in the old town of Idstein. There wasn't even ouzo.
Make sure to count your money when paying
I have to admit that I had no idea what an enchanting place Idstein is. This applies in particular to the square in front of the German House. Definitely worth a big detour.
Food reasonably okay, but relatively expensive, without side salad and small portions. Price / performance is absolutely wrong. There will be no more visits!
I ate the grilled octopus. Heavenly.
The food was delicious. The service very attentive and nice. Price / performance ratio is definitely right. Very nice restaurant. Invites you to come back.
Good taste. It is not lacking nor is it so delicious. It is a good restaurant to visit occasionally at moderate prices.
